Dear Mr. Davis:
I am very pleased to write a letter of support for your application to the
Greenway Conservancy for funding under the Hudson River Valley Annual Grant
Program for the New Hamburg Greenway Trail Footbridge Project.
I understand that the proposed project is one component in a larger effort to
rebuild and restore the New Hamburg segment of the Hudson River Greenway
Trail System. The other efforts included the formation of the Dutchess County
water Quality Strategy Committee, development of the Natural Resource
Management Plan for the Wappinger Creek Watershed, Intermunicipal
cooperation on watershed issues, project funding for reduction of stream bank
erosion through construction of a stormwater treatment facility, stabilize gullies
to reduce erosion, and reconstruction of the trailway. The permanent bridges
will make the trail system more accessible and safer for those traveling along the
Greenway system.
I Strongly support this proposal to assure that the quality of life in the Town of
Poughkeepsie and in the region is preserved through protection, restoration and
access to the Hudson River Greenway Trails.
Sincerely,
