RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING JUSTICE COURT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM GRANT
At a special meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County,
New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on the 6th day
of May, 2003, at 5:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Joseph Ruggiero, Supervisor, and upon roll being
called, the following were present:

ABSENT:
The following Resolution was introduced by Mr. Paoloni and seconded by
Mr. Colsey
WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger Justice Court is eligible for a grant from the State
of New York Unified Court System through the Justice Court Assistance Program; and
WHEREAS, Town of Wappinger Justices, Carl S. Wolfson and Heather L. Kitchen, and
the Town of Wappinger Justice Court Chief Clerk, Cheryl Hait, have recommended an
application for such grant be made; and
WHEREAS, Justice Carl S. Wolfson and Chief Clerk Cheryl Hait have prepared an
application to the Justice Court Assistance Program Grant in the form attached hereta.,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as follows:

1. The recitations above set forth are incorporated in this Resolution as if fully set
forth and adopted herein.
2. The Town Board hereby authorizes an application to be made on behalf of the
Town of Wappinger Justice Court pursuant to the Justice Court Assistance Program for a grant in
the amount of Three Thousand, Three Hundred Dollars ($3,300) as set forth in a copy of the
attached application for said Grant.
3. The Town Board authorizes said application to be signed by Supervisor Joseph
Ruggiero as well as Town Justices Carl S. Wolfson and Heather L. Kitchen and further
authorizes and ratifies the actions of Supervisor Joseph Ruggiero who signed the certification
attached to the application dated May 1, 2003.
The foregoing was put to a vote which resulted as follows:

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

• Applications must be typed or printed, either by machine or by hand. ORIGINAL signatures are required.
• The maximum grant amount for individual applications is $20,000. The maximum grant amount for joint applications is
$20,000 multiplied by the number of municipal applicants.
• Mail applications to: State of New York Unified Court System, ATTN: Justice Court Assistance Program, 4 ESP,
Suite 2001, Albany, New York 12223-1450.
• Applications must be filed (ie., postmarked, if mailed) by May I I of each year.
• Additional pages may be attached, and should be printed or typed and double-spaced. Additional pages should be limited
to the minimum necessary.
• The Chief Administrative Judge may request that an applicant furnish additional information or documentation to support
an application.
• If two or more municipalities are making a joint application, each must separately complete an application form for its own

ITEM B: COURT DESCRIPTION
1. Indicate number of justices of the court. If it is a village court, include any acting justice(s). Indicate number of full-time
and part-time nonjudicial personnel (e.g., court clerk).
2. Indicate the number of new case filings and jury trials for each of the three calendar years preceding the date the
application is submitted.
3. Attach a copy of the court's itemized budget for the most recent municipal fiscal year.
4. Describe computers or other electronic equipment and software used by the court. Indicate whether the court is on-line
with DMV, DCJS or OSC and whether the court has access to the Internet.
5. Describe the facility in which court sessions are held (e.g., building [town hall, residence, etc.], dedicated courtroom,
office space, furnishings).
6. Describe town or village served by the court, including population, nature of community (e.g., rural, urban, agricultural,
industrial, commercial), and any unique characteristics that impact the court's caseload (e.g., highways, colleges/
universities, international border, shopping malls, tourist attractions, sporting facilities).
7. If this is the first application submitted (individual or joint), indicate "None." Ifthis is not the first application submitted
(individual or joint), indicate year(s) previous application(s) filed. If award granted, check yes and indicate the year
award was received.

Specify the total amount of funding requested. Describe the goods and/or services to be purchased with that funding and the
reason(s) why they are needed by the court. Also describe how this project will allow the court to better serve the community.

Separately list the individual goods and/or services to be purchased and indicate the cost of each. Include such incidental costs
as supplies and travel expenses. Please indicate the priority of each requested item on a scale of 1 to 10,1 being the highest.
