Dear Mrs. Buckley:
On November 15th, 1991, this office recommended that all work
performed on the above referenced project be accepted by the
Town of Wappingers and the final payment voucher be honored.
Enclosed, please find a copy of that voucher which indicated the
amount payable, and the 3% retainage to be held by the Town for
a period of one (1) year.
I am also enclosing a voucher from Colonial Builders, the
Contractor who did the work on this, project, for payment of the
above mentioned 3% retainage.
Graham Foster and myself conducted a field inspection and find
all components of the project to be in order, and we recommend
that the Town of Wappinger honor this voucher.
If there are any questions, or concerns please do not hesitate

Enclosed please find a map of the proposed drainage
improvements for the above referenced project.
As you can see fron the plan, a paved swale will be
constructed from the intersection of Pine Ridge Drive and
Dorothy Lane to proposed Catch Basin No. 6 at McCullough
Terrace to direct the road runoff into the proposed drainage
system.
In addition, an eight foot section of pipe: will be placed in
the vicinity of the common property line between Hayden and
Kennedy as an inlet to transport flood water from both
properties to the proposed storm system. This pipe inlet
will be set at an elevaation below the low points of bot
properties .
Furthermore, the Hayden' s must understand that the paved
swale and proposed storm system wi"11 restrict road runoff
from entering onto their property. However, the property
owner will be responsible for any grading and/or other work
required to transport the flood water from private property
to the inlet pipe in the Town' s right-of-way.

Dear Ms. Snowden:
We would sincerely appreciate your looking into our most serious problem
in reference to installing drains at the intersection of Pine Ridge Drive and
Dorothy Lane in the Town of Wappinger Falls.
We have been repeatedly trying to correct the problem for the past 21 years
and have not been successful. A hearing was to be scheduled last spring and
we heard nothing.,
Our house is located at the intersection of Pine Ridge Drive and Dorothy Lane.
The road is paved so that the water runs off onto our property and other adjacent
properties causing flooding. As a result, the water is backing up into our basement.
We have invested over $4,000 trying to correct the problem and it is not effective.,
We have experienced great losses.
The water runs down Pine Ridge into the back yard of the Kennedy's causing
flooding and water backing up into our yard and into our basement. They have
numerous drains on McCullough Terrace (a secondary road off of Pine Ridge
Drive and in front of the Kennedy's house) but there are no drains on Pine
Ridge Drive to catch the water running off Pine Ridge and Dorothy Lane.
The Cline's also have the problem and the water backs up into our yard because
of the run-off.
I am unable to understand why this cannot be corrected when it is a major
intersection, especially when secondary roads off of Pine Ridge Drive have
numerous drains, and yet there are drains located in front of vacant lots.
Again, I would most sincerely appreciate your looking into this matter.

As per Mrs. Cline ' s request, we have analyzed the above
drainage situation and report the following :
1) There is an existing swale along Pine Ridge Drive
draining to an existing culvert on the same street .
2) There is only 0 . 9% grade total on the existing swale
with many flat sections .
3) There is a 8" culvert under the Cline ' s driveway with
no pitch at all .
4) The existing road culvert is a 12" concrete pipe with
0. 6% pitch on it .
Our recommendations are as follows :
1) The culvert under Pine Ridge Drive should be lowered and
increased to 15 ".
2) The swale should be better defined and given more pitch .
This will allow for a more even runoff.

At the request of the Town Board and Mr , and Mrs . Hayden , we
have examined the above drainage situation and report the
following :
1 . There is an existing closed drainage system on Mccullogh
Drive .
2 , This system could be extended to Dorothy Lane and
eventually to the rear yard near the Hayden residence ,
This would alleviate the ponding that now occurs in the
resident ' s back yard.
E With the implementation of this piping and the
construction of a paved swale on the southerly side of
Dorothy Lane , it would be possible to intercept the
majority of the surface runoff that now enters the
Hayden property.
4 . With the implementation of this closed storm drain
system, it would also be possible to place a stub pipe
onto the Hayden property which would also aid in its
drainage .
5 . The approximate construction value of this work would be
between twenty-five ( 25 ) and thirty-five ( 35 ) thousand
dollars .
