Resolution Authorizing Application For A Grant Under The Water Infrastructure
Improvements Act For UWWD Route 9 Expansion
At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County,
New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on August
22, 2022.
The meeting was called to order by Richard Thurston, Town Supervisor, and upon roll
being called, the following was recorded:

The following Resolution was introduced by Councilman Beale and seconded by
Councilman Phillips.
WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger is applying to New York State Department of
Environmental Conservation for a grant under the Water Infrastructure Improvement Act for a
project entitled United Wappinger Water District Route 9 Expansion (the Pro)ect); and
WHEREAS, the Project will require the extension of the United Wappinger Water District
in accordance with the requirements of Article 12 or Article 12-A of the Town Law; and
WHEREAS, according to Town Law, the costs of the water improvement is required to be
paid for by the property owners in the Extension Area; and
WHEREAS, the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, on behalf of the United
Wappinger Water District,intends to finance the improvements using grants in aid as well as the
issuance of bonds under the Local Finance Law assuming that sufficient grant funding is received
for the project; and
WHEREAS, the Extension of the District is subject to approval by the NYS Comptroller
Office of Audit and Control if the annual cost of the project exceeds the annual thresholds set by
the Comptroller; and
WHEREAS, the grant application requires the applicant municipality to obtain the
approval/endorsement of the governing body of the municipality or municipalities in which the
project will be located;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of
Wappinger hereby does approve and endorse the application for a grant under the Water
Infrastructure Improvement Act, for a project known as United Wappinger Water District Route 9
Expansion and located within this community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Board authorizes the Town Supervisor,
the Engineers to the Town, the Attorneys to the Town and its Grant Writer to sign and execute any
documents associated with the WIIA Grant Application.
The foregoing was put to a vote which resulted as follows:
