2023-41 2023-41 Purchase of Vactor For Highway Department At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on March 13, 2023. WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger Board recognizes the need for a reliable Vactor to be used by the Highway Department, and WHEREAS, the current vehicle used by Highway Department is in need of frequent repairs and maintenance, resulting in increased costs and decreased efficiency, and WHEREAS, the Highway Department has identified a suitable replacement vehicle that meets the needs of the department and is within the budget allocated for the purchase of a new vehicle, and WHEREAS, the Highway Department we can move unused funds from salt budget this winter in the $200,000 range. It looks like they will be able to sell the used unit for $100,000 vs trade in for $50,000 in lieu of the purchase of the replacement vehicle and has selected this most cost- effective option, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,that the Town of Wappinger Board approves the purchase of a new Vactor for approximately $479,000 for use by the Highway Department at a cost not to exceed $500,000. The vendor is Joe Johnson Equipment- Contract 4101221-VTR BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Highway Department is authorized to proceed with the purchase and take any necessary steps to complete the transaction, including but not limited to obtaining financing and arranging for delivery. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Highway Department is authorized to dispose of the current vehicle in a manner consistent with Town of Wappinger policy and applicable laws. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Highway Department is directed to provide regular reports to the Town of Wappinger Board on the use and maintenance of the new vehicle.
