Completed by Danielle Salisbury, Resource Educator, Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County(CCEDC)with assistance from the Town of'Wappinger staff Summary, _ 0 The Town of Wappinger is interested in submitting for Bronze Level Certification through the New York State Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Certification Program. The criteria required for Bronze Level m 0 Certification is 120 action points,3 priority actions, at least 1 action performed iln 4 different pledge 2 o. elements(PEs), and 2 mandatory actions; creating a CSC Task Force and identifying a CSC Coordinator. _ For more information on Certification criteria, visit the New York State Climate Smart Communities Program Online Portal l Certification Levels webpage(htt_psr[f cli atesai q_..Ey ga_v/ict ons- a) certificatonj reification-overvicEZE, reification-levels ). The portal is a great resource for =_ municipalities actively pursuing and participating in the CSC Certification Program A thorough investigation into the CSC actions that the Town can likely receive credit for was performed = m with assistance from CCEDC.The assessment was performed over the duration of six months, during Q which CCEDC staff worked closely with the Town of Wappinger staff on aligning Town accomplishments 0 with CSC actions. The assessment revealed that the Town, at a minimum, can likely receive 95 points, and at a maximum, 126 points through already completed actions, they have completed two of three priority actions needed and neither of the two mandatory actions,The extent to which the Town can receive credit for actions is influenced by factors such as if certain actions were performed beyond required limits of ten, or in some cases five years ago. For more information on specific action o descriptions and requirements for credit, visit the New York State Climate Smart Communities Program L Online Portal (Lttp_s;. slim trysrrrart.ny ccvr)• This document identifies a list of mandatory actions required to be taken by the Town to achieve Bronze o Level Certification and additional recommendations for the Town to consider to continue with their m climate smart path, with suggested funding sources for applicable actions. A list of actions that the M Town has already completed and can likely receive credit for is also provided after the priority recommendations. In conclusion, this document serves as a roadmap and resource for building a more resilient and climate smart Town of Wappinger'. E l= 0 Next!Steps. U L The Town has the 120 required points to achieve Bronze level certification, however, there are two E mandatory actions that the Town must take before they are able to submit for certification. The Town ar must formally adopt a Climate Smart Communities Task Force (20 points) and formally identify a E Climate Smart Communities Coordinator(10,paints).Additionally, the Town needs to complete one U more priority action before they can submit for certification. April 6, 2023 Town of Wappinger 20 Middlebush Road Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 U Attention: Mr. Steve Frazier 0 Subject: Roof Inspection and Evaluation (Steep Sloped Main Roof and Low Sloped Porch Roof Areas - Carnwath Farms Administration Building) Dear Mr. Frazier: As per our conversation concerning the necessary roof work to be accomplished on the subject roofs of your Wappingers Falls, New York property and my subsequent close visual examination of these roof areas, I am pleased to submit the following for your consideration: The Steep Sloped Main Roof Area is comprised of one layer of asphalt shingles installed over E an underlayment atop a wood plank deck. Inspection revealed that the roof was not installed to industry standards and is not performing as expected. It was noted that the existing wood plank decking does not have a "tight"installation pattern for the proper securement of the roofing nails to consistently attach to the roof deck assembly, thereby L) allowing the shingles to"slip"off the roof. Additionally, defects were noted on the lower low 0 slope roof area above the porch. 7E (n 0 With the above in mind, Vanguard is providing two options for your review. The first option 0 would be to install new 1/2"CDX plywood over the wood plank deck. The second option is to address the defects noted on the lower low-slope roof area overtop of the Front Porch. 0 The following scope of work briefly outlines the proper procedure for the removal and 0 replacement of the existing shingles utilizing the acceptable industry standards for shingle roofing: Scope of Work > 3: A) • Remove and dispose of all shingles and associated materials possible (felt paper, is and water shield, drip edge, rake edge) so as to expose the underlying wood plank .2 deck. • OPTION 1 ®Install new 1/2" CDX plywood over the existing wood plank decking utilizing new framing nails.
