2023-1022023-102 Resolution Authorizing Amnesty From Increased Fee For Expired Building Permits At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on August 21, 2023. WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger has enacted a Local Law which increases certain Fees and Fines, including a new fee structure for renewing expired building permits; and WHEREAS, the Town Board has determined that it is in the best interest of the Town to enact an amnesty from the new fee structure, to encourage property owners to renew their expired building permits and obtain the necessary inspections required by the Uniform Code; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger hereby enacts an amnesty from the new fee schedule for the renewal of expired building permits that qualify under the following conditions: 1. The building permit was issued on or before August 21, 2022, and is expired, 2. Work has been commenced under the building permit, 3. Application to renew the building permit shall be made on or before November 1, 2023, the building permit renewal fee in effect on August 21, 2023, shall be paid, 4. All work shall comply with the NYS Uniform Code and shall be subject to inspection by the Town of Wappinger Building Department in accordance with Chapter 85 of the Town of Wappinger Code, 5. All work shall be completed and satisfactorily inspected on or before December 31, 2023, 6. Any expired permits that do not meet these conditions shall be required to pay the new fee. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the building department is direct to send notice of this amnesty to the property owners currently having expired building permits; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be posted on the Town's website and social media sites.
