Resolution Setting Public Hearing For Purchase Of Real Property Adjacent To Reese Park
At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held
at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on September 25, 2023.
The meeting was called to order by Richard Thurston, Town Supervisor, and upon roll being called, the
following was recorded:

The following Resolution was introduced by Councilman Beale and seconded by Casella.
WHEREAS, the property located at 2513 Route 9D contains 1.6 acres and abuts Reese Park and would
provide access from Route 9D into the park; and
WHEREAS, the owner of the property wishes to sell the property to the Town and a contract of sale has
been presented to the Town Board for its approval with a purchase price of $150,000; and
WHEREAS, the Town Board is considering using unallocated B Fund balance to purchase the property so
that it may be used for park purposes and not developed in the future; and
WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to set a public hearing to receive public comment on the purchase of
the property; and
WHEREAS, the acquisition of 25 acres or less of land for dedication to park purposes is a Type II action
under SEAR pursuant to 6 NYCRR §617.5(c)(39);
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that:
1) A public hearing will be held in the Town Hall, in Wappinger , New York, in said Town, on October 10,
2023, at 7:00 o'clock P.M., on the question of the purchase of real property located at 2513 Route 9D for
dedication as parkland and to hear all persons interested in the subject thereof, concerning the same, and to
take such action thereon as is required or authorized by law.
2) The Town Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy of the Notice of Public Hearing
hereinafter provided to be published once in the official newspaper, and also to cause a copy thereof to be
posted on the sign board of the Town, such publication and posting to be made not less than ten, nor more
than twenty, days before the date designated for the hearing.
3) The notice of public hearing shall be in substantially the form attached hereto as Exhibit A.
The Town Board determines that this action is Type II action under SEQR pursuant to 6 NYCRR §617.5(c)(39).
