Resolution Appointing Full Time Motor Equipment Operator In The Highway Department
At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held
at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls,
New York, on August 19, 2024.

The following Resolution was introduced by Casella and seconded by Councilman Beale.
WHEREAS, a vacancy of a full time Motor Equipment Operator position exists in the Highway Department, and
WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Highways Michael J. Sheehan has appointed Joseph Couto to the position of
Motor Equipment Operator effective July, 29, 2024, and
WHEREAS, the full time Motor Equipment Operator position is a Labor position under Civil Service Law which is
not subject to competitive examination, and
WHEREAS, the full time Motor Equipment Operator position is subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining
Agreement between the Town of Wappinger and CSEA, Locall000 AFSCME, AFL-CIO, Town of Wappinger Unit
6673, Dutchess County Local 814, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as follows:
1. The Town Board hereby acknowledges the appointment of Joseph Couto as Motor Equipment Operator,
effective July 29, 2024, who shall be compensated at the rate of $31.71 per hour which shall be paid in weekly
installments, in accordance with the CBA.
2. The above appointment is subject to the approval of the Dutchess County Department of Human
Resources and is further subject to Civil Service Law and the Rules of New York State and the Dutchess County
Department of Human Resources.
3. The above appointment is subject to a probationary term of not less than eight nor more than twenty-six
weeks in accordance with the rules of the Dutchess County Department of Human Resources.
4. All necessary documentation for the appointment shall be filed with the Dutchess County Department of
Human Resources.
The foregoing was put to a vote which resulted as follows:
