Resolution to Adjust Town of Wappinger Mileage Reimbursement Rates for 2008
At a regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County,
New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on July 23,
2008.
The meeting was called to order by Christopher Colsey, Supervisor, and upon roll being
called, the following were present:

The following Resolution was introduced by Councilman Bettina and seconded by
Councilman Paoloni.
WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger regularly compensates employees for the use of
their personal vehicles in activities consistent within the scope of their employment on a
reimbursement basis; and
WHEREAS, the Internal Revenue Service has adjusted the allowable reimbursement rate
to 50.5 cents per mile for business miles driven, as referenced in IRS Bulletin IR -2007-192, Nov.
27, 2007.
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board hereby authorizes the allowable mileage
reimbursement rate to 50.5 cents per mile for business miles driven.
The foregoing was put to a vote which resulted as follows:

I understand it has been several years since we have updated our employee
mileage re -imbursement, which is currently .325 cents per mile.
With the surge in fuel prices in mind, the Board may want to re -visit this item to
see if it should be re -considered.

In recognition of increasing gasoline prices, the IRS has announced an increase in the optional standard
tin -e rates for the second half of 2008. The standard mileage rate for business miles driven from July
1, 2008, through December 31, 2008, will be 58.5 cents per mile, an increase of eight cents over the
rate for the first half of the year. The standard mileage rate for medical and moving expenses has been
increased to 27 cents per mile from 19 cents per mile. The standard mileage rate for charitable
purposes, however, remains unchanged at 14 cents per mile. Rev. Proc. 2007-70, I.R.B. 2007-50, 1162,
is modified.
