Mr. Hirkala: The first item will be the Appeal # 1113, The Zoning Board of the
Town of Wappinger will hold a Public Hearing pursuant to Section 513 of the
Town of Wappinger Zoning ordinance. At the request of Geoffry C. & Cynthia
Corbin, seeking a 4 foot variance of Article IV Section 421 Paragraph 6, to
;-pe,`rmit the addition of a 19 foot high garage where 15 feet in height is allowed
1 property located at 1 North Street, Chelsea, N.Y. and being parcel
6056-09-011646 in the Town of Wappinger. Is Mr. Corbin here? Please state your
name for the record.
Geoffry Corbin.
Mr. Hirkala: Has everyone been notified?
Mr. Levenson: Mr. Chairman, the notices are properly advertised in the Southern
Dutchess News, and all the letters were properly mailed, and the Southern
Dutchess News has been paid.
Mr. Hirkala: Does anyone have any questions of Mr.'Corbin?
Mr. Levenson: I might say Mr. Chairman, I saw this lot before I went on vaca-
tion, and if you look at the dimensions of this lot, this lot is just a little
over 10,000 square feet. They have a water problem in their cellar 11 months
out of the year, and I believe that is the reason for this request.
Mr. Corbin: That is correct.
Mr. Sasser: I would just like to say for the other Board members information, I
drove by and looked at it to and the garage sits way back off the road. It
appears that it is lower then the house, a step down.
Corbin: It is about 5 feet lower.
Mr. Sasser: I don't believe that Mr. Corbins request will be a detriment at
all.
Mr. Hirkala: Anyone in the audience wish to speak for or against the applicant?
Page 2
Mr. Lehigh: You are just putting on a second story on it then, that's what you
are doing on the existing garage?
Mr. Corbin: Yes.
Mr. Hirkala: You are adding 8 feet to the top of the garage?
Mr. Corbin: 7, eight feet would be over 19 so we cut it down to 7.
Mr. Hirkala: Anyone in the audience?
Mr. James Tompkins: An abutting neighbor. No objections. I had a barn which was
adjacent to his which stood about 25 feet in the air, which I tore down. The
height was always there and I have no problem with this.
Mr. Hirkala: Any other Board members have any questions or comments? This is
strictly for storage.
Mr. Corbin: Yes. I might but an old chair up there so I can get away from it
X11.
Mr. Hirkala: Close the Public Hearing.
Mr. Lehigh: Made a motion to close the Public Hearing.
Mr. Brooker: Seconded.
Vote: All ayes.
Mr. Lehigh: Made a motion for a Negative Declaration.
Mr. Brooker: Seconded.
Vote: All ayes.
Mr. Lehigh: Made a motion to allow the 7 foot addition in height on the garage.
Mr. Brooker: Seconded.
Vote: All ayes.
Motion carried.
Mr. Lehigh: The only thing I would like to add to the minutes of June 25 is I
would like to see the letter, from Herb added to it, about 33 Denis Road your
ispection.
Mr. Levenson: I might tell you that this is strictly a neighbor, neighbor
argument. This guy has more bushes around his place then you can shake a stick
at.
Page 3.
Mr. Lehigh: well that is what you stated and I would like to have your letter
entered into the minutes with it. I would move that the minutes of ,Tune 25 be
approved with that addition.
Mr. Sasser: Seconded.
Vote: All ayes.
Mr. Hirkala: One thing I want to ask is what is the status of Knoller?
Mr. Levenson: We don't hear nothing. I had the Health Department do down there
the next day after they were in, and he finds nothing wrong with the sub-
surface septic system at this time.
There was then a discussion on the sign on the convenient store on Route 9. There
was also a discussion about a house that was put up on Route 9D that had no
road frontage. Mr. Levenson was to check this out. There was also a discussion
on the letter from the Fire Bureau about the LaDue residence.
Very respectfully yours,
Ga Ann Hardisty, S ry
