Attention: Constance O. Smith, Supervisor
Reference: Change Orders
Wappinger Sewer Transmission/Treatment Improvement
Phase 3A, Contract No.1
Dear Supervisor Smith & Board Members:
We had written a letter to the Town Board on August 30th, 2000 regarding
the Central Hudson gas main. As a follow-up to this letter, regarding the
interference of the proposed sanitary sewer line for the above improvement
with an existing Central Hudson main on the south side of Old Hopewell
Road the final figures are in.
Additional cost experienced by the contractor due to the interference with
the Central Hudson gas main is $11,992.29.
We would recommend that this Change Order be approved.
Please be advised that Central Hudson has moved the gas main to allow the
Town to install it's sanitary sewer line and the only additional cost was the
additional time to re-excavate the area and the time the Contractor put in
assisting Central Hudson in the gas main relocation.
On the ev~ning of October 2nd, 2000, while blasting on Onondaga Drive, the
existing water main in the Wappinger Park Subdivision was broken. Upon
excavating, it was determined that the water main was approximately 3'-4'
from the sewer trench, whereas, we had thought the water main was
approximately 10'. Apparently, the water main had veered out from the
assumed location due to the existence of the rock, and was to close to the
proposed sewer line, and therefore, damaged.

RE: 3A-1/Change Orders
- 2 -
October 10, 2000
The existing water main pipe was not able to be traced, therefore, making a
precise location is very difficult. The amount of time, materials and
equipment the Contractor has in repairing the main, and the utilization of
Camo Pollution Control as their subcontractor, equals $ 6,520.77.
We would also recommend that this Change Order be approved by the
Town Board.
If there are any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact
this office.
