Dear Dan:
At the last Planning Board meeting, our office was instructed to draft a letter to the Department of
Health regarding the above referenced SPDES Permit.
As you know, the permit is the amount of 7,000:!: gallons per day and consists of a sand filter surface
discharge. The discharge is to a drainage ditch along Route 9. This drainage ditch is tributary to a
closed storm drainage system under Route 9, eventually draining into Hunter's Creek in the area of Old
Hopewell Road.
You are also aware, the Town has spent a significant amount of money in the last three years to remove
their sewerage facilities that was tributary to this creek.
As you are further aware, the Town is contemplating additional areas to be sewered in this general
vicinity that will also remove surface and subsurface discharges.
To remain consistent with the Town's past practices, we ask the Department (and/or New York State
Department of Environmental Conservation) insure that the monitoring requirements in the existing
SPDES permit are met and that the parameters listed in this permit are maintained.
If there are any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact this office.
Very truly yours, <! %
