Attention: Constance O. Smith, Supervisor
Reference: Hussain Pump Station
Dear Supervisor Smith & Board Members:
I am in receipt of a letter from Tanveer Hussain regarding the Bell-Air pump station.
As you are well aware, we are going to present the final Map, Plan and Report for Phase
3A to the Town Board at the September 14th, 1998 meeting. The execution of Phase 3A
of the Wappinger TransmissionlTreatment Improvement Area will allow for the
abandonment of the Bell-Air pump station.
If all goes well, I would advise that the project should take three (3) years to complete.
However, if there are any issues that need to be resolved during the public hearing
process, application to the Comptroller's office, and/or the design, that time period will
necessarily be extended. I would recommend that this information be transmitted to Mr.
Hussain.
With respect to the second paragraph in which Mr. Hussain questions the maintenance of
the area, I would recommend that you send a copy of this letter to Mike Tremper for his
input.
If there are any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact this office.

Dear Supervisor,
I am writing this letter to find out the status of the sewer ejector station located in my
front yard. In your letter, dated June 30, 1993, to me stated that hopefully your Tri-
munincipal Project will be completed by December 1996 that will result in the removal of
this pump. Again in a lett~ulated April 7, 1996, by Joseph E. Paggi I was told that phase
3A will finish towards the^Ol' 1998 (see attached letters). Now that we are nearing the end
of 1998, I would like to know at what stage this plan is and when should I expect the
removal of this pump.
In the same letter, you ensured that the surrounding area will be kept neat, trimmed and in
a presentable appearance. This did not happen, The trees have grown taller blocking the
front view from my living room window and their roots are eating the grass around them,
hence affecting my grass. Until the pump is removed I would like Town Of Wappinger to
do something around the pump station to make it look neater, smaller, presentable, and
whatever can be done to reduce the sound coming out of it. As a heart patient, it is very
important for me to have undisturbed sleep and peace.
I hope to hear from you soon in this regard. Thanks.
Sincerely,

Reference: Sewer Ejector Station
Dear Mr. Hussain:
At the March 25, 1996 Town Board meeting, I was instructed to draft a
letter to you in response to your letter to the Town regarding the above
referenced sewer ejector station.
In this letter three questions are posed to the Town, and I will answer
them separately below:
A. The Town's plan regarding removing and dismantling
this pump station are as follows.
Once Phase 3A is completed, the pump station can be
removed. Best guess estimate for completion for
Phase 3A is 1 % to 2 % years.
B. The operators of the Town sewer system, Camo
Pollution Control, have made numerous efforts to keep
the area surrounding the pump station neat and trim.
If there is a specific request in this area, please make
it to the Town. However, please note that efforts are
being made to keep the area in a presentable
appearance.
C. As the Board indicated at their meeting, they can not
compensate you because the Town has every right to
be there by virtue of the easement.
If there are any questions regarding the above, please do not
hesitate to contact my office.
Very truly yours,
-7J~~

Dear Mr. Hussain:
The Town has recently received your letter regarding
the pump station in your front yard. You should know that
the Town and the Town Board are fully aware of the
problems associated with this pump station and its
installation elevation.
Based on your correspondence over the years, the Town
has worked hard for both a short term solution and long
term solution to this pump station. The short term
solution was to install a holding tank at a lower
elevation than your home so that when the pump station
failed or there were operational problems the flow would
enter this holding tank as opposed to having the potential
to backflow into your downstairs facilities. The Town
Engineer and the Town Operator together drew up plans and
recommended this, however at the time the Dutchess County
Health Department would not approve it. The long term
solution is the removal of the pump station and flow the
sewage to grade to Myers Corners Road. This plan is
incorporated into Phase 3-A of the Tri-Municipal Project.
This proj ect, we hope, will be completed at a date no
later than December, 1996.
We appreciate your concern on this matter, but hope
that you can see that the Town of Wappinger has been
working for you in an attempt to resolve this problem for
you.
If you have further questions on this matter, please
call CAMO Pollution Control at 229-6855 or the Town Hall
at 297-2744.
Sincerely,;
