Box 324 Wappingers Falls, New York 12590 ELAINE SNOWDEN TOWN CLeRK Attention: Constance O. Smith, Supervisor Reference: Tentative Contract/Town of Wappinger With Joint City/Town Water Board Dear Supervisor Smith & Board Members: As instructed, AI Roberts and I met with Michael Murphy, City Administrator, to discuss the potential framework of a contract between the Town of Wappinger and the Joint City/Town Water Board for the bulk sale of water. This meeting was held in June 30th, 1998 at Mike Murphy's office. Mr. Murphy explained the makeup of the Joint City/Town Water Board and hi-lighted the key personnel from each member municipality. He explained that the City of Poughkeepsie currently had 5:!: MGD to sell, and that the plant was being upgraded from 16 MGD to 21 MGD. He went on further to note that there was a potential at the site for an expansion of up to 26 MGD. We then explained to Mr. Murphy that the Town has identified long-term water needs for its entire service area of approximately 4 MGD. A potential framework for a contract was discussed as follows: . An initial purchase of 2 MGD to be phased in over a number of years. . An option for an additional 2MGD. . This option would be purchased through an initial capital cost paid by the Town and would be callable by the Joint City/Town Water Board as it reached it's design capacity. Joseph E. It was discussed that any future negotiations beyond this point should be made with the Joint Board's negotiating committee in full attendance as specific details would then be discussed. At the conclusion of the meeting, it was decided to draft this letter, send to the Town Board, and wait for direction. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact AI or myself. verOIY yours'l) ~ r:;b-Ji} ~ -J6~eph E. Paggi, Jr., P.E. d/I . ,-z::i7 ~V .~~~ JEP:APR:law cc: Hon.
