DATE: June 10, 1998 RE: Fleetwood Water District Town of Wappinger The Town of Wappinger is seeking bids from qualified Contractors to perform: WATER PLANT ABANDONMENT - FLEETWOOD WATER DISTRICT The main components of said work are: ;, Excavation, removal and disposal of : . Two (2) 25,000 gallon underground water storage tanks. . One (1) 15,000 gallon underground water storage tank. . One (1) 5,000 gallon hydropneumatic water storage tank. ;, All tanks are steel construction. All resulting excavations shall be backfilled with well compacted, clean fill. All fill material shall be subject to prior approval by the Engineer. ;, Demolition removal and disposal of one (1) 22 foot by 15-foot masonry block building with all furnishings and appurtenances, including arranging for and abandoning existing utilities (i.e. gas, electric). ;, Excavation, cutting and capping of existing 6" diameter asbestos cement pipe (ACP) supply main. Cap shall be restrained by means of an approved concrete thrust block. Backfill within 12" of any water main shall be with well compacted sand or gravel. The remaining excavation shall be backfilled with well compacted, clean fill. ;, Furnish and install one 6" hydrant complete with gate valve, blocking, restraint, and all appurtenances. Hydrant shall be Mueller "Centurion" or approved equal. Backfill shall be equal to water main backfill as outlined above. (This item may already be complete at time of plant abandonment. Metzger Construction RE: Fleetwood Water District - 2 . June 10, 1998 ~ Abandonment of three (3) production, water wells including, but not limiting to, cutting, filling with an approved inert material, and capping. All well abandonment shall comply with the applicable codes of the Dutchess County health Department. Contractor shall be responsible for securing a permit from the Dutchess County Health Department prior to well abandonment procedures. ~ Miscellaneous removal items including chain linking fencing, interior piping, valves, drain lines, building contents, driveway material, etc. ~ All areas disturbed by construction operation shall be restored to original grade by Contractor, including 4" of topsoil, and appropriate seeding and mulching to provide an adequate stand of grass. All bids shall be received at the offices of Paggi, Martin & Del Bene, LLP, 54-56 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, New York 12601, prior to 12:00 noon on June 291h, 1998.
