Box 324 Wappingers Falls, New York 12590 Attention: Constance O. Smith Reference: Combined Water Dear Supervisor Smith & Board Members: Enclosed please find a letter from Michael Murphy, City Administrator, regarding the possibility of requesting that the State hang a water main off or under the pedestrian bridge over Wappinger Lake that is proposed to be con.structed on Route 9 in the next few years. Mr. Murphy suggests that it might be an appropriate time to do the installation, as the cost would be minimized. I also think that this is a good idea. I would suggest that Supervisor Smith be authorized to direct a letter to the New York State Department of Transportation initiating this discussion. If there are any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact this office. ;;~o~~ /?IliJ Joseph E. Paggi, Jr., P.E. JEP:law Enclosure cc: Hon. Vincent Bettina, Councilman w/enclosure Hon. June 18, 1998 Jay Paggi Paggi & Martin Consulting Engineers 54-56 Main Street Poughkeepsie,~ 12601 Dear Jay: Someone suggested that I, in my capacity as Chair of the Joint Cityrrown Water Board, write the New York State Department of Transportation to ask them to consider hanging a water main off the pedestrian bridge over Route 9 that will be constructed, or under the bridge over the Wappinger Creek, for future water service. Since the Joint Water Board would not own this pipe I suggest that perhaps such a letter come from you or Connie Smith, presuming you agree that this would be a good idea as part of the Route 9 reconstruction project that will occur in the next few years. Thank you. Sincerely, ~ Michael P. Murphy City Administrator MPM:cd .\1unicipal Building P.O.
