Box 324 Wappingers Falls, New York 12590 Attention: Constance O. Smith Reference: Rockingham Drainage Project Dear Supervisor Smith & Board Members: I received a call on Friday, February 14, 1997 from Mrs. Capuano. As you may recall, Mrs. Capuano lives on Drew Court and her backyard faces out on to Old Hopewell Road. The Capuano's granted an easement to the Town of Wappinger for drainage purposes in order to facilitate the construction of the Rockingham Drainage Improvements. I have enclosed a copy of the construction plan for that section of the project for your review. As you can see, it was proposed to construct a 6' stockade fence (as shown in red) along the rear of the Capuano property. It was also proposed to construct a 6' stockade fence along the rear of the property adjacent to the Capuanos to the north. In the early stage of design it was not proposed to construct a stockade fence around the corner. As you may know, the area has been cleared recently by the contractor in anticipation of construction of the pipe. When the clearing was done, it became obvious to Mrs. Capuano that the areas immediately to the west of her property and the roadway in the extreme southwest corner of her property was quite visible. . At that point, she called our office to request that the fence be constructed along the northerly right-of-way of Old Hopewell Road and her westerly property line to connect the fence and make it continuous. This is as shown in blue on the enclosed sketch. The total footage that would be added is approximately 80' across the westerly property line and 56' along the northerly edge of Hopewell Road for a total of 136'. At the contract unit price of $25.00 per foot, this would equal approximately $3,400.00. This would be a change order to the contract, if approved by the Board. Joseph E. Paggi,Jr., P.E. Smith Town Board RE: Rockingham Drainage - 2 - February 1 7, 1997 It should be noted that for certain items in the contract (specifically Item 4.01 - Rock Excavation, Item 11.01 -Foundation Stone, and Item 12.01 - Run-of-Bank Gravel) we anticipate not reaching the estimated quantities that were put forth in the bid proposal. This should result in a total completed project amount less than aggregate of the amount bid. I do not know this for fact yet, however, would aRticipate that this would be a true statement. If the Board Members have any questions regarding the above and/or wish to discuss this at a Workshop, please do not hesitate to contact this office. 2L-?~ Joseph E. Paggi, Jr., P.E.
