Re: Environmental Bond Act Correspondence/Phase 3A
Two letters have been received relevant to funding under the
Environmental Bond Act.
The first is a copy of a letter from Assemblyman Joel Miller to Stephen
Bobarakis of the New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation (N.Y.S.D.E.C.), requesting a formal application for funding
on behalf of the Town of Wappinger. Although redundant, this will help
ensure that we receive our application as soon as they are made
available.
The second letter is from John P. Cahill, acting commissioner of the
N.Y.S.D.E.C. It announces a meeting on Wednesday, March 12, to
discuss the scoring criteria to be used for the ranking of proposed
projects, as well as the application process itself. The letter also states
that another set of meetings will be held sometime in late March to
provide additional details on each of the Bon.d Act programs.
Enclosed are copies of the above mentioned letters.

Dear Mr. Bobarakis:
I am writing to you on behalf of the Town of Wappinger which is located in my assembly
district. At this time, I am formally requesting an application to receive funding from the
Water Pollution Control Program of the Environmental Bond Act.
This section of the Bond Act is important to the Town of Wappinger because it deals with
sewage treatment upgrades. I have enclosed all relevant information concerning this request
and ask that this municipality be sent an application when they become available. Thank you
for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
~~

Dear Municipal Official and Interested Citizen,
'\
New York State voters overwhelmingly approved the Clean Water/Clean Air Bond Act
last November. This Bond Act will provide $1.75 billion for a variety of programs including
clean water projects, safe drinking water projects, solid waste initiatives, air quality projects and
environmental restoration (brownfield) projects.
You are invited to participate in public meetings to discuss the Clean Water/Clean Air
Bond Act implementation and potential projects. The meetings will be held March 12th &
March 20th from 7 to 9 p.m. The list of locations and addresses is enclosed. We ask that you
register by calling the appropriate contact listed.
Staff from the State Departments of Environmental Conservation, Agriculture and
Markets, State Health, the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the State
Envirorunental Facilities COrPOration will be available to discuss the application process and
potential projects.
The purpose of these meetings is to provide information on the scoring criteria to be used
for ranking proposed projects and the application process to be used for Bond Act funding. We
would also like to get your views on implementation of the Bond Act and hear suggestions on
potential projects.
The process will allow for local governments to propose projects and for public input all
through the process. A second set of meetings starting late in March will be held across the state
to provide additional details on each of the Bond Act programs.
I am anxious to ensure that New Yorkers get the best environmental projects for their
money so we welcome your input at both sets of meetings.
Sincereh
