Widmer Road Realignment
Dear Board Members:
Enclosed please find a copy of the preliminary plan layout for the above
referenced project.
On the plan we have indicated the existing roadway, proposed
realignment, and the Right-of-Way (R.O.W.) resulting from past road
takings. .
As you can see, the right-of-way in the vicinity of the Villa Borghese is
only 30:t feet wide restricting the realignment of the road.
As you are well aware, this is the portion of the road with poor sight
distance requiring geometric modifications. In order to facilitate the re-
design of the road, additional R.O.W. will be required in this area.
Not only does the horizontal realignment require additional R.O.W. to
meet AASHTO standards, but also the vertical realignment, to grade the
side slopes and driveways properly.
Therefore, we feel that the acquisition of additional R.O.W. is essential
to the overall efficiency and safety of the road realignment.
To go ahead and reconstruct the roadway as shown would be only a
partial solution, and inefficient way to utilize the grant money available.
We would like to ask the Town Board for authorization to pursue the
acquisition of approximately 30-40 more feet of R.O.W. in this areas as
shown on the plan.
