Box 324 Wappingers Falls, New York 12590 Attention: Constance O. Smith Tri-Municipal Sewer Commission Change Orders Dear Supervisor Smith and Board Members: Reference: As instructed by the Town Board, I have reviewed all the approved and pending Change Orders for the four (4) construction contracts that the Tri-Municipal Sewer Commission is presently doing for the Town of Wappinger expansion. Our research indicates the following: CONTRA CT NO. 1 - (Sewer Plant ExoansionJ: There have been fourteen (14) approved Change Orders totaling $87,019.53. These Change Orders were due to design modifications and unanticipated existing conditions. There also appears to be five (5) proposed Change Orders by the Contractors that have not been approved by the Commission as of yet. CONTRACT NO.2 - (Electrical Work at Sewer Plant ExoansionJ: There appears to be one (1) approved Change Order in the amount of $1,540.00 for design modifications. CONTRA CT NO. 3 - (Pumo Station Modification & Surge Tank ConstructionJ: There appears to be three (3) approved Change Orders totaling $71,768.19. The bulk of this Change Order was additional rock encountered that was not anticipated. There also appears to be an unapproved Change Order request by the Contractor for excavation around an unanticipated laid up storm sewer pipe. Joseph E. Paggi,Jr., P.E. Smith RE: Change Orders - 2 - September 20, 1995 CONTRACT NO.4 - (Electric Vl(ork for the Puma Station & Surge Tank); There was an approved Change Order for the amount $8,734.00 to modify the contract as bid.. There appears. to be no additional Chdnge OrcJer requests by the Contractor. . To this date, it would appear that Tri-Municipal has approved approximately $169,000.00 worth of Change Orders on four (4) construction contracts totaling a little over $7,300,000.00. This equals approximately 2.3%, which is within accepted standards. I would recommend that we get together in a Workshop Session to discuss these Change Orders, and I will try to address the Board's questions at that time if they have any. It should be noted that if there are questions as to the details of the Change Orders and the overall technical merit, I would recommend that they be addressed to the Commission and/or the Commission's Engineers. Very truly yours, 6J~~'~ Joseph E. Paggi, Jr., P.E. JEP:law cc: Albert P. Roberts, Esq.
