Box 324 Wappingers Falls, New York 12590 Reference: Kevin Martz 88 Scott Drive Dear Board Members: I received a call from Mr. Kevin Martz of 88 Scott Drive regarding the conditions of the drainage easement across the rear of his property. The drainage easement traverses across the entire rear yard of Mr. Martz's property, draining the northwestern section of the Rockingham Subdivision down to an existing culvert pipe in the rear of his neighbor's property. The slope across Mr. Martz's property is rather flat. Therefore, the area remains wet most of the year. He has asked this office to come up with an idea to better drain his property to make it more useful. I have not offered any suggestions at this point, and have not taken a hard enough look at it to determine one. However, I can say to effectively solve this problem it would, in all likelihood, be necessary to construct some type of enclosed storm drain system (ie: pipe) in the area of Mr. Martz's property and upstream for quite some distance. I don't know if the Town wants to get in the position of piping these backyard drainage ditch/easements as there are a significant number of them existing in the Town. Possibly, we could schedule some type of Workshop for discussion, and any input from Graham Foster would be helpful.
