As per the Town Board's instruction and the Dutchess Medica~1 Arts ,t:"
Building's letter of May 20, 1996, I have prepared a sketch for t
connection of said building to the Wappinger Park Water DistF' t.
/~
Included with this drawing is a two page generic Specification to be
included with the transmittal to the Dutchess Mejdicel Arts Building. The
drawing and specification ShQuld,be_~tran.smittedffo Eileen Platt, Building
Manager, after the appropnate 'es'crowacc15unts are established.
When they deposit the necessary escrow account with the Town, I
would think it appropriate to also include $750.00 ~or inspection
services during construction.
I am taking the liberty of carbon copying Dutchess Medical Arts Building
on this letter, and also notifying them that this drawing is to be given
out to reputable contractors that are experienced in doing this kind of
work. It should also be cautioned that the intent of the drawing and the
specifications is to give general guidelines for the installation of the
water service. All incidental work shall be construed to be part of the
total job whether stated or implied.
If there are any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to
contact this office.

THE DUTCHESS MEDICAL ARTS BUILDING
WATER SERVICE CONNECTION
GENERAL NOTES:
1 . Contractor to call the Underground Utilities Call Number to confirm
location of all existing utilities, including all individual service
connections to Hark Building I. Any damage done to any existing
utilities shall be at the risk of the contractor performing the work. All
existing utilities shown are approximate and as per the best information
known at this point in time.
2. The Contractor is to make the wet tap to the water service connection
approximately 10' south of the existing hydrant wet tap on Cayuga
Drive. The specific location of this can be verified with Camo Pollution
Control at 463-7310.
3. Contractor shall make a 2" tap into the existing main on the side of the
pipe. The tap shall be made with an approved saddle capable of
restraining the proposed 2" connection on to the existing transite pipe.
The tapping procedure and material shall meet the approval of the
Town Engineer and Camo Pollution Control. The tap shall have the
appropriate corporation and necessary expansion loop.
4. Water service connection shall be 2" Type "K" copper with 5'0" depth
of bury. The service connection shall be bedded in 6" of sand and
covered with 15" of bank run gravel. The bank run gravel shall then
be compacted to a uniform density. All bends shall be made by
sweeping the pipe. The ditch shall conform to the minimum sweep
required due to the 2" diameter. All fittings that will be required (ie.
unions, corporations, stop curbs, etc.) shall be compression type
fittings.
5. In all roadway areas, the remainder of the backfill above the 15" bank
run gravel cover shall meet either the Dutchess County Department of
Public Works Specifications or the Town Highway Specifications.
Contractors shall check with the individual permitting agency prior to
submitting a bid for backfill requirements. All work in the roadway and
parking areas shall be sawcut to the width necessary prior to any
excavation.
6. In the lawn areas, suitable run-of-trench material above the bank run
gravel may be used.
7. In all parking areas, 9" of run-of-bank gravel shall be placed at the top
of the trench. The trench shall then be paved with a 2" binder and
1 %" top course.
8. The existing foundation wall on the east side of the building shall be
penetrated and patched to the satisfaction of the Building Inspector
and/or the Town Engineer.
9. The water meter shall be a SENSUS, 2" compound type water meter or
equal. The RPZ proposed shall be Watts 2" RPZ. These shall be
installed on the new 2" service connection in the existing water room.
The work shall be done to the satisfaction of the Town Engineer and
Camo Pollution Control.
10. The existing water service from the existing well shall be cut and
permanently capped. The existing well shall be abandoned as
Dutchess County Health Department and AWWA regulations mandate.
11. All restoration work done within the Town right-of-way, County right-
of-way, parking area, lawn area, and building shall be done to original
or better condition and to the satisfaction of the owner of each specific
area.
12. All minimum vertical separations shall be 18" whether up or down.
13. All existing utilities shall be protected against any damage. The
Contractor will be responsible for any damage done to any existing
utility.
14. Contractor shall obtain all necessary permits to perform the job,
including a Town Highway Work Permit, a Highway Work Permit from
the Dutchess County Department of Public Works, and a Water Service
Connection Permit from the Building Inspector of the Town of
Wappinger.
15. The proposed 2" service line shall be pressure tested as per AWWA
specifications to a minimum test pressure of 100 psi.
16. The proposed 2" service connection shall be disinfected and blown out
prior to connecting into the existing building. The appropriate
bacteriological test shall be taken and satisfactory results shall be
received prior to placing the line in service.
17. The proposed drawing and these notes shall be taken by the
Contractor to be general guidelines for performing the work. All work
shall be performed in a neat and orderly manner, and anything
disturbed shall be restored to as is or better condition. Private property
markers shall be maintained in the field, and encroachment upon
adjacent private properties will not be allowed. The owner of the
individual property where work is being done will be the sole judge if
the restoration work is acceptable. The acceptability of the work on
the water connection will be by the Town Engineer and Camo Pollution
Control. Their judgement shall be binding.
18. The Contractor shall include in the Price Bid all incidental work whether
shown or implied on these documents so that the Lump Sum Price Bid
is all inclusive.
