Section 404 Hazard Mitigation Grant Program
FEMA 1095 DR-NY
Rockingham Drainage Improvements
Dear Supervisor Smith & Board Members:
Attention:
Reference:
As per a telephone conversation with Mr. Richard Gross of the New
York State Emergency Management Office on November 26, 1996, the
status of the Town's request for funds on the above referenced project
is as follows:
1 . The project review has been completed by
N.Y.S.E.M.A. and ranked according to merit.
2. Tt)e highest ranking applications were forwarded to
FEMA for processing.
3. This disaster event had a very large number of
applications for funding, so much so that only
approximately 25 % of the applications could be
funded with the monies allocated to the Program.
4. While the Town of Wappingers application received a
very high ranking, due to the large number of
requests, the Town missed the funding cut off line.
According to Mr. Gross the Town's request is fourth
(4th) on the list of all remaining projects.
5. At this time, N.Y.S.E.M.A. is holding all remaining
applications in case additional funding becomes
available, in which case the Town would be fourth
(4th) in line to receive a grant.

6. The N.Y.S.E.M.A. will be providing the Town with
formal notification of its action in the near future.
7. The only other possibility for funding under this
program would be if an additional FEMA disaster were
to occur, in which case, the Town's application could
be re-submitted.
