Stop Signs
Dear Board Members:
Reference:
At you request, Graham Foster and myself have looked at the above
intersection relative to the installation of stop signs on Tor Road.
We find the following:
1 . We do not have any strong feelings one way or the other
regarding the installation of stop signs on Tor Road at this
intersection.
2. The Town Board must make a policy decision as to whether
or not to continue to use stop signs as speed controls on
main thoroughfares.
3. In general, stop siQns are not recommended for use as speed
controls, but speCific site conditions may warrant the use of
them in some cases.
4. The installation of stop signs at this intersection could have a
"domino" effect on other adjacent similar intersections.
5. Local public opinion regarding the installation of these stop
signs is quite important in this case because Tor Road is not
a through road as Kent Road and Highview Road.
