RE:
Sewer Lateral Problems - 10 Deer Run Road; Lacy
Residence
On Tuesday, September 19, 1995, CAMO Pollution Control, Inc.
received a call from the plumber who has been contracted by the
resident of 10 Deer Run Road. At that time, the plumber had
indicated that there was a problem on the sewer lateral between
the house and the curb of the road. His only reason for
contacting CAMO Pollution Control, Inc., at that time, was to
locate the water service, so that during the repairs to the sewer
lateral he would not inadvertently hit the water line.
Later that day, CAMO Pollution Control, Inc., again, was
contacted by the plumber of 10 Deer Run Road. At this time, he
indicated that while he was repairing the sewer lateral near the
curb of the road, he noticed that there was a potential problem
under the road. By Town Code, the sewer lateral between the
house and the curb is the responsibility of the homeowner. The
sewer lateral between the curb of the road and the sewer main is
the responsibility of the Town.
On Wednesday, September 20, 1995, CAMO Pollution Control,
Inc. excavated the sewer lateral under the road and found a
deflected joint at the edge of the pavement. At this time, a
section of pipe was removed and the joint was repaired. CAMO
Pollution Control, Inc. checked the grade on the pipe between the
curb of the road and the sewer main. The pipe was found to be
pitched properly. CAMO Pollution Control, Inc. then checked the
grade on the pipe between the home and the curb of the road.
This grade was found to be inadequate.

CAMO Pollution Control, Inc. contacted both the homeowner of
10 Deer Run Road and the homeowner's contracted plumber and
informed them that the grade on the pipe between the house and
the curb was inadequate. To prevent future problems from
occurring, the pipe should be regraded. By Town Code, the
regrading of this pipe is the homeowner's responsibility.
If you have any questions, or would like to discuss this
matter further, I can be reached at (914) 463-7310.
