RE:
Sewer Lateral Backup at 28 Pippin Lane
On May 8, 1995, CAMO Pollution Control, Inc. received a call
from Schnorr Plumbing who had been called to the Herde residence
at 28 Pippin Lane regarding a sewer lateral backup. Mike
Schnorr, of Schnorr Plumbing, indicated that the resident was
having a blockage. Schnorr Plumbing had snaked the sewer line
and found an obstruction at 60 feet and a possible broken pipe at
90 feet. The 60 foot mark would put the first obstruction in the
middle of the homeowner's property. The 90 foot mark would put
the blockage out in the road.
As you are aware, per the Town's Sewer Code, any blockages
are the homeowner's responsibility. The District is responsible
for repairs to broken pipes under the road. CAMO Pollution
Control, Inc. discussed this problem with Schnorr Plumbing and
they were to make the repairs at 60 feet as this is the
responsibility of the homeowner. At that point, CAMO Pollution
Control, Inc. was to TV the sewer line from the 60 foot point out
to the sewer main to investigate possible problems on the
district's side of the sewer line. Unfortunately, due to
scheduling problems, Schnorr Plumbing was unable to perform the
repairs at the 60 foot mark on the day set. Therefore, CAMO
Pollution Control, Inc. was unable to TV the sewer line to
establish the problems at the 90 foot mark.

On May 15, 1995, CAMO Pollution Control, Inc. received a
call from Schnorr Plumbing. They stated that they were
performing the repairs to the sewer lateral at 28 Pippin Lane.
CAMO pollution Control, Inc. responded and found that Schnorr
Plumbing had not only excavated to the 60 foot mark but was also
excavating the sewer line out to the curb of the road. Once at
the curb line, Schnorr attempted to snake the line and found
another problem approximately 7 feet under Pippin Line. We
informed Schnorr Plumbing to make the necessary repairs to the
homeowner's sewer later and told them that CAMO Pollution
Control, Inc. will make the necessary repairs under the pavement.
At this time, the homeowner has sewer service and CAMO Pollution
Control, Inc. has scheduled the necessary repairs to the piping
under Pippin Lane.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this
matter further, I can be reached at (914) 463-7310.
