Re: Sewer backup at
13 Pippin Lane
, "
'" '~...l ,...;.",..1
Dear Mrs.Smith:
Please excuse the delay in getting these bills to you,
but because of business commitments I have been out of town
for the past few weeks.
The first set of bills are for the damages to the
basement caused by the June 2nd sewage backup (refer to Camo
letter dated June 8th).
Enclosed are bills for the plumber, the sanitizing work
needed for the basement as well as a list of the items which
were ruined by the sewage overflowing the sink.
The sewer water splashed onto 3 cases of Coke and 2
cases of Caronna beer which were located near this area along
with ruining 2 Nintendo tapes located in a box on the cellar
floor. The worker for the sanitizing service recommended
that the soda and beer not be used as sewage would remain on
the bottles unless they were boiled for a period of time.
The soda was purchased-for $6.00 per case, totaling $18
and the beer was $24.00 per case, totaling $48.00. The two
Nintendo tapes ruined were: "Bases Loaded" purchased for $35
and "Tetris" purchased for $50.00.
While Dare Fitzpatrick was inspecting the damage, he
agreed with our plumber, Jim Beyer, that we definitely could
not live like this since the second sewer backup occurred so
quickly after the first and ~i~bQ~~ 2D~ ~2rDiDg to the
pumping station area, due to the fact that the blockage is
.somewhere in the middle of Russet Lane and didn't reach the
station to set off the alarm.
Mr. Fitzpatrick informed us that Camo Pollution was
trying to work out an arrangement with the Town of Wappingers
whereby Camo would come in with one of the town sewer trucks
and flush out the pipes on either a monthly or bi-monthly
basis. However, since this plan was still in the "talking
stages" at the time and Mr. Fitzpatrick could not even guess
as to when this would be initiated, there was no way we felt
,
-
. .
we could wait due to the fact that the backup was now
occurring so frequently and without warning.
On June 6, 1990, Jim Beyer Plumbing raised the sewer
pipe leading from the house to the main approximately three
(3) feet and installed a gate valve in the cellar for further
protection and security for whenever we are away for extended
periods of time.
The bills we are enclosing are for the main work
associated with the town blockage and do not include the
substantial amount of money and time it has taken for
landscaping, seeding, watering, etc., along with the
cancellation of our summer plans due to the expense we have
had to absorb because of the town's sewage backup problem.
We request that the Town of Wappingers pay the enclosed
costs, since as stated earlier, this is a recurring town
problem on Russet Lane as confirmed by both Mr.Beyer and Mr.
Fitzpatrick on both occasions.
If you have any questions in reference to the
above, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Re: Sewer back-up at Conners
Residence, 13 Pippin Lane
Dear Supervisor Smith,
On Saturday, March 17, 1990, Camo Pollution Control personnel received a
call from the New Hackensack Fire Dept. of a sewer back-up at the Conners
residence, 13 Pippin Lane.
Camo personnel responded to the call and alleviated the overflow into the
residence. The blockage in the main was then cleared with the Town of
Wappinger Highway Department Vactor truck. Proper flow through of the main was
then assured.
Prior to the arrival of Camo Pollution Control personnel on the scene,
sewage had backed up into the house causing damages to the basement.
If you have any questions on this matter you may contact our office at
473-9200.
Sincerely,
Camo Pollution Control, Inc.
