I have received copies of the letters from the residence of 96 Widmer
Road and 31 Kretch Circle. Both residence are requesting reimbursement for
services rendered by an outside contractor as a result of a sewer backup. As
stated in the letters dated February 6, 1990 by CAMO Pollution Control, in both
cases the point of blockage was the sewer mains. As stated by Town Code the
main is the responsibility of the Town to clear.
It should be noted that in both cases the costs incurred by the outside
contractor were a result of the homeowner not notifying CAMO first. In the
case of 31 Kretch Circle the homeowners realized the problem at 11:30 am, tried
to contact a plumber but was unable to reach one until late afternoon. CAMO
was not contacted until 9:00 pm and the problem was resolved by 10:00 p.m. In
both cases if CAMO had been contacted first monies and aggravations would have
been minimized.
