SNOWDEN Dear Board Members: On Monday night, October 5, 1981 the water in the downstairs toilet at my residence at 46 Robert Lane, Wappingers Falls overflowed several times. I phoned Frank Versace at about 11:00 p.m. to find out what could be done. On Tuesday morning, October 6, maintenance crews worked on the sewers after which the sewers functioned normally. The sewage overflow has damaged the carpeting in my downstairs bathroom and playroom. Neighbors came in to witness the damage on October 6, 1981. They agreed with me that the carpeting will have to be ripped up and replaced. I believe the Town of Wappingers is responsible for the damage caused by the overflow. How do I go about obtaining redress from the Town of Wappingers? Will a representative of the Town assess the damage or should I go ahead and have the work done and later present the bills? ~ tru:p...zours, l.L5~ ~~ Bruce Pfaff . c c L1r3J H-~ 'OJ'Ii/XI ..... j;a'~'_Il'.:.L...t .i!'Ja"&,;.ILo' ..\.lot,;,," :....l.~~..i......""l.'... ..I.~~Jll&;.;hid'''''.1>-'--''>>''.J !I..a...a~.--..- .. Dear Mr. Diehl: ELAINE H, SNOWDEN On October 5, 1981, at apprDX~tely midnight, we received e cell from Town Board Member, Frank Versace. Mr. Versace stated the homeowner's sewer l1ne, at 46 Roberts Road, was not flowing properly, but the problem could wait until the morning to be checked. Consequently, our crews responded the following morning and found the sewer main blocked, and during the night sewage spilled into the homeowner's basement. We then had the blockage cleared and the line flushed. In the past, under the direction of the Town ~upervisor, it has been the practice of Camo Pollution Control to respond 8S soan e& possible, regardless of time, to any problemi~alls we receive. We have found that many times what appears to be a minor problem or an insignificant event, can blossom into major problems and even health hazards if not handled promptly. If the Town wishes to change this policy by any means, please notify us so we can inform our emergency work force. Thank you far your consideration in this matter.
