Gentlemen:
On September 9, 1980 this writer made a routine inspection of the
Town owned sewage treatment plants. The following was noted as a result
of these inspections:
1. Fl eetwood Manor:
Both Aerators are back in service. Sludge in settling
tanks presently is collected by pushing it manually
into the hoppers. This makes plant operation difficult.
The final effluent was, visually,of relatively good qual-
ity. The following work is needed at this facility:
A. Install fencing to prevent entry on all sides of plant.
B. Repair sludge return line
c. Replace valves on waste line
D. Replace sprockets, shafts, drive units, chains and
flights in settling tanks.
2. Wildwood:
The quality of the final effluent was poor due to solids
rising over the secondary weirs. It was obvious the plant
process was upset and the plant was not prepared for an
inspection; A grating has been installed over the chlorine
contact tank in the area of the flow meter for accident pre-
vention.
3. Oakwood:
Some work on the collection system must be completed by
Penetryn as detailed in the service agreements. The effect
of the work completed to date cannot be measured until there
is a sufficiently long period of wet weather.

4. Rockingham:
New drag chains, f1ytes and sprockets have been installed
in both settling tanks. Overall, this plant is now in
good condition.
The final effluent from Oakwood, Rockingham and Royal Ridge was
clear and visually appeared to be of good quality.
Very truly yours,
