SNOWDEN To update my request of October 7, 1980 (copy attached) and to simplify my request, I would propose the following resolution be adopted: The Building Department fee schedule for the Town of Wappinger is as follows: Building permit fee: $4.00 per $1,000 of estimated cost, subject to Building Inspector review ($10.00 minimum fee). Demolition permit fee: $2.00 per $1,000 of estimated cost, subject to Building Inspector review. ($10.00 minimum fee) Certificate of Occupancy fee: (where no new building permit is required) $25.00 Temporary Certificate of Occupancy fee: $15.00 Certified copies of building permits and site plans: cost of reproduction plus $5.00 handling fee each. That would constitute the complete department fee schedule and tie into the requirements of the Building Code and (1980) Zoning Ordinance. I would urge your immediate action on this request. Y. 12590 297.6256 October 7, 1980 Town Board Town of Wappinger Town Hall, Mill Street Wappingers Falls, New York 12590 RE: Building Permit Fees Dear Members of the Board: I have researched the fee schedules of adjoining towns and compiled comparison charts to evaluate them, Briefly, most of the Towns use a rather complicated formula, which is not only time consuming tc arrive at the fee, but does not take into effect the inflation rate. However, two municipalities, the Town of Fishkill and the City of Beacon, use a simple dollar amount per 1,000 dollar estimated cost, as submitted by the applicant. I have used this formula to check (8) previous permits issued by this office and feel it is an excellent method. As the cost of building rises, the permit fee will rise accodingly, and the time per permit is reduced from approximately 10 to 15 minutes to a few seconds. Fishkill uses $4,50 per thousand and Beacon uses $2,00 per thousand plus $7.00, both have $10.00 minimum. I would recommend that we adopt a fee schedule of $4,00 per $1,000 estimated cost, subject to Building Inspector review, $10.00 minimum, The fee schedule as proposed, added from $15.00 to $289.00 to the amount that was actually collected, on the eight test permits. The average increase amounted to $72,00 for the eight permits. I will be happy to meet with the Board if you want to review all the material I have gathered on this matter, HRG/dlh CC: William P.
