Phase 3A1Contract No.2 - Bid Opening
--=---=-
Dear Supervisor Smith and Board Members:
Bids were received for the above referenced project and opened on October 17th, 2000 at 11 :00
a.m. The results are as follows:
CONTRACTOR BID A..\10UNT
I Grant Street Construction, Inc. S 948.000.00
I Advanced ExcavatinR & La.l1dscaoin~ $1.181,400.00
I H. Osterhoudt Excavating, LLC $1.497.755.00
I Sun Up Enterprises, Inc. $1,697,337.20
We have reviewed all bids and found them to be in order and correct.
We then checked the references provided to us by Grant Street Construction and received
nothing but positive recommendations.
Grant Street Construction's bid of $948,000.00 is slightly below our construction cost estimate
of$950,100.00. These bids reflect the increasing construction costs associated with the thriving
construction industry.
For example, back in April the low bid for Phase 3A, Contract No.1 ($853,136.00) was
approximately 33% less then our construction cost estinlate ($1.28 Million).
As you mayor may not be aware, the easement from the Estate of Niess en has not been
executed. This easement is required to allow the installation of the initial 125::1: feet ofproposed
sewer main in this Contract
