As well as the calendar dates, I am working on up-dating the files and organizing them. I have done
extensive research on many areas of the Town as requested by various groups. I hope that the files are
easier to understand and more accessible to people wishing to use them, as well as containing more in-
format ion.
I have completed the 1975 & 1976 albums of the Town and have also completed an album of old photos
of the Town. Anyone wishing to use the albums is welcome to do so.
I worked with three boy scouts on their Eagle badge. Two of the boys are not Eagle Scouts, and I
expect that the third boy will soon complete his requirements.
I have written up a brief history of the Town for the Chamber of Commerce Directory. I also supplied
them with several photos from the Historian Files. The New Hackensock area history was also researched
for the Fire Company's use.
Extensive research on the Wappinger Indians was undertaken for two gentlemen. A real nice "thank you"
note from them is attached to this report.
I met Mrs. Dorothy Alsdorf at the Albany meeting. She was the first Town Historian. After returning
from Albany I sent her a Town Centennial Plate, bumper sticker and booklet. She was interested in
knowing if the To....n had done anything for the Centennial and seemed surprised that we had.
Numerous correspondence was answered from school chi Idren asking about our area. These letters came
from our area but also from out of the area. They were sent the walking tour guide with pictures and
write-ups about various buildings in our area.
I worked on the Robinson Lane Cemetery with the Jaycees and Boy Scouts. We are now nearly finished
with the clean-up and are taking pictures and recording the pictures as well as making a detailed
diagram of the cemetery. As we catalog the information on the stones and study them, we hope to
learn more about the area. Since we started preserving this cemetery, we have been requested to clean
up others. We plan to do the Pye Lane Cemetery after we finish this one and then plan to continue
till we complete photographing and doing all the work necessary in order to have a complete file on
all the discarded cemeteries in the Town. If anyone is interested in helping, we will be doing more work
in these cemeteries when the weather warms up again.
I would like to thank the Town Board for giving me the opportunity to serve as Historian of the Town.
It is a most interesting and enjoyable position.
Res~ectfully sUbmitted;d
