BUILDING INSPECTOR'S/ZONING ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT FOR 1981 TO THE
TOWN BOARD
This report and attached three pages summarize the activities of the
Building and Zoning Department for the year 1981.
To review, total value of construction was $8,172,238, up significantly
from 1980's $2,587,831. Fees totaling $14,785 were collected.
A total of 236 building permits were issued, the same as last year.
A total of 62 water/sewer hook-up permits were issued (up from 48 last
year) and a total of $1,550 in fees were collected.
A total of 130 Certificates of Occupancy were issued, down from last year,
which reflects the fact that my part-time deputy resigned July 24, 1981.
A total of $97.50 was collected for the sale of copies of the 1980 zoning
ordinance and maps.
Zoning Administrator's work load is reflected by the following yearly
totals:
Special Use Permits issued - 3
New complaints processed - 188
Subdivisions and Site Plan reviews - 41 (many reviewed more than once
Court actions initiated - 9
Meetings attended - (evenings) 53
Orders to Remedy served - 55
Variance applications to the Zoning Board of Appeals - 82
Stop Work orders issued - 11
Sewer and water repair orders issued - 4
Abandoned car orders issued - 3
Highlights of the year include - Appointment of a full time deputy, in
late December, Pizzagalli's new office complex for IBM started, Lawrence
Farms construction started, Parsons new showroom started and completed,
Poughkeepsie Datsun completed, large additions to Greer Toyota and N & S
started and Central Hudson's new sub-station started.
In April I attended a 2 day Building Official school near Rochester, New
York. I completed a 3 day noise control school in Poughkeepsie to
become certified as required by the 1980 zoning ordinance. In October
I attended the Planning Federation confereni ...for z.oning.Ad~'nistrator.
