RESOLUTION NO. 2002- I f./) RESOLUTION APPOINTING RECREATION DIRECTOR The following Resolution was introduced byMr. Paoloni and seconded by Mr. Colsey WHEREAS, the Recreation Director for the Town of Wappinger, Steve Lowery, resigned as of April 1, 2002; and WHEREAS, the Recreation Committee interviewed numerous applicants for the position; and WHEREAS, the Town Board interviewed the top three (3) candidates recommended by the Recreation Committee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Town Board wishes to appoint Cyril J. "Skip" Rottkamp of 57 DeGarmo Hills Road, Wappingers Falls, New York to the permanent part-time position of Recreation Director to the Town of Wappinger Recreation Committee at the annual salary of Twelve Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($12,500.00). HOLT, CHAIRMAN RE: REPLACEMENT OF DIRECTOR OF RECREATION As you know, we are faced with replacing Mr. Stephen Lowery as the Town's Director of Recreation. Mr. Lowery will finish his time with us on April 1, 2002. We have advertized for his replacement and we received a number of excellent candidates. We feel very fortunate that of these candidates, we have come up with one that we believe will be an excellent replacement. We feel Mr. Cyril 1. Rottkamp would fill the job nicely and we request your approval to proceed to make an offer to him. We are attaching a copy of his resume so you can see that he possesses the skills and experience needed to perform this function. During my tenure as the Wappingers Central School District Interscholastic Athletic Coordinator, I enjoyed working with the staff of the Recreation Department and found them to be highly motivated, helpful and friendly. I am enthusiastic about utilizing the knowledge, skills and experience I have developed over the years to benefit the Town's recreation programs. I have spent my career working with youth and families. I have been involved with and honored for my work in athletics and activities at all levels from camp counselor, to teacher, to coach, to official and administrator. I have also worked for various town park and recreation programs including as a summer camp counselor at Hagantown in 1968, Camp Director of Athletics at Camp Echo Lake in Warrensburg, New York in 1967 and as the Director of Red Wing Park in the To\'..-n of East Fishkill from 1978 to 1992. I am known to be extremely patient and am fair but fIrm. I always strive to listen to other's ideas and I feel I could bring a lot of creativity to this position. As the Parks and Recreation Director, I would like to increase services to the community and serve as a liaison to foster better communication between the Town and the school system. I have worked in Dutchess County and have been a resident of the Town of Wappinger for 35 years. I would be proud to serve my community in this new capacity. I have excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills and am confident that I would be an asset to the Town of Wappinger Parks and Recreation Department.
