A Public Hearing was held by the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger on
November 4, 2004 at the Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls,
New York on the Preliminary Budget for 2005. Supervisor Ruggiero opened
the Meeting at 7:32 p.m.
Present:
Joseph Ruggiero, Supervisor
Robert Valdati, Councilman
Joseph Paoloni, Councilman
Absent:
Vincent Bettina, Councilman
Maureen McCarthy, Councilwoman
Gloria J. Morse, Town Clerk
The Deputy Town Clerk offered for the record the Affidavit of Posting and
Publication duly signed and notarized. (These Affidavits are attached hereto
and made part thereof the Minutes of the Meeting).
Supervisor Ruggiero wished to know if anyone in the audience wished to
speak in regard to the Preliminary Budget. One resident wished to know
how he could obtain a copy of the Preliminary Budget. Supervisor Ruggiero
replied that he could get one from the Comptroller.
Councilman Valdati wished to have the Supervisor explain the increase in
"fixed costs". Supervisor Ruggiero explained that the biggest increase in
costs to the Town is the health insurance costs, we just got an increase.
Pension costs is going from 4 1/2 % to 11%. Salt is going from $27 a ton to $42
a ton. There has also been a significant increase in line items that we have
no control over.
Councilman Valdati felt some one should look into the reason for the big
increase in salt prices. Supervisor Ruggiero answered that the salt comes
from State bid.
There were no further comments or questions.
Supervisor Ruggiero moved to close the Public Hearing, seconded by
Councilman Paoloni and unanimously carried.
The Public Hearing closed at 7:38 p.m.
