Construction of screened-in portch already begun as I
was unaware of the necessary requirement of a variance
and building permit sinc~ porch will have no windows or
heat; therefore, in my opinion, not considered 'living
space.'
As a senior citizen and a widow living alone, and the
area being heavily wooded with many uncut fields ---
in the two months I have lived here, I have had a three
foot snake, a huge woodchuck has a home just outside my
kitchen window, misquito infested (from brook behind the
mobile home) and mice. It would be unthinkable to consider
sitting outside in the nice weather to get the sun or an
evening breeze without a screened-in porch (for my safety
and sanity).
I have completely re-done the inside of this mobile home;
painted outside, planted flowers and shrubs; am installing
window surround and new shutters, and hopefully, adding
the screened-in porch. All of this should enhance the
character of the district.
I appeal to the Board to allow the continuance of this
porch and plead ignorance of the law. I am a law-abiding
citizen, retired and have a considerable amount of money
already invested in this project.
Your favorable consideration will be appreciated:

Mr. Hans Gunderud:
I have enclosed the forms you sent me, filled out, the drawing
of the screened-in porch, and the two required checks.
I will be anxious to hear after the July 12th meeting if my
appeal was granted.
I'm a little perplexed however, when there are codes to meet
and other requirements --- how am I supposed to know precisely
what 1umber size, etc. is required if no one gives me a copy
of the codes? Is it possible that I might have a copy of the
code requirements? I don1t want to knowingly break any rules,
and with the money live invested, I certainly don't want it to
be disapproved because I haven't followed the requirements.
I appreciate any help you will give me.

As an afterthought, you and I were discussing using 2"x 8" lumber
for the roof beams --- are we remembering that we're tying in to
2" x 2" wood in the trailer construction?
