RE: Farm use & interpretation of "fur bearing" animals
Dear Mr. & Mrs. prassel:
Thank %u for coming in to my office to inform me about your farm
use. It is my understanding (and you verified to me) that prior to
the 1980 Zoning Ordinance you had: 4 geese, 25+ chickens, 15 ducks,
15 rabbits and 2 goats. You th~refore had a legal non-conforming
use, once the "new" ordinance came into effect, since under the lInew"
ordinance, "farm uses" require Special Use Permits.
You now have: 8 geese, 25 chickens, 15 ducks and 50+ rabbits, and
3 guinnea hens, but your will reduce the number of geese and get rid
of the guinnea hens. You also stated you will reduce the number of .
rabbits to around 8, but my interpretation of rabbits has been that
they are fur-bearing animals and therefore, not permitted (as per
Section 220, definitions "farm use") .

You have a right to seek an interpretation from the Zoning Board of
Appeals on the rabbit question.
