ANSWERS TO # 2
1)
This sign to be erected is for identification
purposes only. Necessary because the restaurant
is set back from Route 9 approximately 75'-80'.
It is intended that this sign be so placed that
it can be seen in time by cars traveling north
and south on Route 9. They should not have to
brake suddenly in looking for this restaurant,
thus constituting a highway hazard by doing so.
This sign is therefore a necessary means of ident-
ifying our location and not an advertisement of any
kind. It's location ~here it is now, except for it
being higher and thus more visible to north and
southbound Route 9 traffic is vital to our contin-
ued business.
2) There is no other restaurant situated as such,
that distance from Route 9, and since there is
access from Route 9 into the restaurant area,
proper identification is needed. Old Route 9 was
originally the only access to the premises, there-
fore the sign located on that side of the property
line was readily seen by travelers going north and
south on ~ld Route 9. This sign could be removed
as soon as the new one would be erected, if the
Zoning Board so decrees.
3) Of all the above plus the fact that there are sim-
ilarly erected signs along Route 9 which can easily
be seen by both sides of traffic without causing
hazardous driving situations by sudden stops or
turns. The design of the sign (enclosed) is in
excellent taste, simple and well defined and is
within the size limit required. Placing it in
the same location as the present sign will not
in any way change the character of the district.
Rather, it would be an enhancement as well as
safer for the above- mentioned reasons.
