Please note the following as taken from the Town of Wappinger Zoning Ordinance: "Section 421. Schedule of Residence Zone Uses. No building or premises shall be used, and no building or group of buildings, or part of a building or structure. shall be erected, constructed, enlarged, altered, arranged or designed to be used. in whole or in part, except for one or more of the uses set forth below. Only those uses specifically listed as being permitted in a specific district shall be permitted in that district. A use, or series of uses. marked with an asterisk (*) is subject to the additional standards"and procedure set forth in Section 430r for uses requiring special permits. Permitted Principal Uses in Residential Districts. 1. One single-family dwelling per lot, not to include mobile homes or house trailers." If you wish to go ahead with your plans to build a home while living at an existing cottage on the same property. you may wish to apply for a variance which will be presented before the Zoning Board of Appeals.
