PAOlONI SUPERVISOR'S OFFICE 20 MIDDlEBUSH ROAD WAPPINGERS FAllS, NY 12590 (845) 297-2744 FAX: (845) 297-4558 TOWN OF WAPPINGER LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED Executive Order No. 2007-1 WHEREAS, during the period of AprillSth & April 16th, the Town of Wappinger received heavy rain as of a result of a Nor'easter storm; and WHEREAS, said storm has caused severe flooding and damage to various roads and properties in the Town of Wappinger including Robinson Lane, Route 9D, Mina Drive & Scotse Road, Front Street, River Road North, Wheeler Hill Road, Smith Crossing Road, Smithtown Road, Maloney Road, and WHEREAS, said storm has caused devastation to Town property such as Rockingham Soccer Fields, Robinson Lane recreation area, docks at Chelsea Water Front, and WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger opened its Emergency Operations Center to assist the Village of Wappingers Falls in evacuating the residents of the Brookside Apartments to a temporary Red Cross Shelter located at the Wappingers Junior High School, and WHEREAS, the National Weather Service in Albany has issued a flood warning for the Wappingers Creek until late Monday evening, April 16, 2007, which forecasts said creek to rise above flood stage levels, and WHEREAS, the Hunter Creek and Sprout Creek has risen above their creek banks causing flooding in various areas and properties throughout the Town of Wappinger, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH RUGGIERO, SUPERVISOR OF THE TOWN OF WAPPINGER, under the powers granted to me by the State of New York in Article 2B of Executive Law, do hereby declare a State of Emergency exists in the Town of Wappinger, RECEIVt:, ) API 1 7 2007 TOWN CLERK AND PURSUANT TO EXECUTIVE LAW, I, JOSEPH RUGGIERO, SUPERVISOR OF THE TOWN OF WAPPINGER, issue the following Executive Order: 1. The recitations above set forth are incorporated in this Executive Order as if fully set forth and adopted herein. 2. Robinson Lane & a portion of Route 9 D in the Town of Wappinger, is hereby closed until further notice due to severe flooding conditions. 3. I hereby declare the Rockingham Farms Soccer Park a disaster area, and therefore, closed to the public due to severe flooding conditions. 4. I hereby authorize the Town of Wappinger Highway Department, CAMO Pollution Control and the Town of Wappinger Patrol to take whatever steps are necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure, and provide any other emergency assistance as deemed necessary. 5. The Town of Wappinger Highway Department, Town Code Enforcement Officials and any other Emergency Services Personnel are hereby authorized to access private property within said disaster area for purposes which they deem necessary to assist residents of the Town of Wappinger and in carrying out this Executive Order.
