SNOW EMERGENCY DECALRED IN TOWN OF W APPINGE~
WHEREAS, on Saturday, January 22, 2005 and Sunday, January 23,2005 a blizzard winter
storm hi t th~ Town of Wappinger, causing nearly twenty inches of snowfall and dangerous winds
in excess of 40 miles per hour, and
WHEREAS, said blizzard made the roads and highways impassable causing dangerous and
hazardous conditions for the traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger Highway Superintendent has requested that the all
roadways remain clear of parked vehicles as not to interfere with snow cleaning and removal.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH RUGGIERO, SUPERVISOR OF THE TOWN OF
WAPPINGER, under the powers granted to me by the State of New York in Article 2B of
Executive Law, do hereby declare that a State of Snow Emergency exists in the Town of
Wappinger.
AND, PURSUANT TO EXECUTIVE LAW, I, JOSEPH RUGGIERO, SUPERVISOR OF THE
TOWN OF WAPPINGER, issue the following EXECUTIVE ORDER:
1) I direct the Town Highway Superintendent, Highway Department, Town of Wappinger Patrol,
and request the assistance of the New York State Police and the Dutchess County Sheriff's
Department to take whatever steps are necessary to protect life and property, public
infrastructure, and other emergency assistance as deemed necessary.
2) Prohibit the parking of any vehicle on public streets during the snow emergency until 8 A1\1,
Monday, January 24,2005.
This Executive Order is effective immediately, and shall remain in effect until 12 PM, Monday,
January, 2005.
