The Town of Wappinger
Planning Board, meeting this past
Monday evening, set a public
hearing for Monday, June 17, at 8
p.m. on the application from the
New Hackensack Reformed
Church for site plan approval and
a special use permit.
Construction of a new church,
church school and other facilities
are planned on the former
McAllister property on Rt. 376,
across from the intersection of
All Angels Hill Rd. The
construction program is planned
in several stages but the site plan
approval and special use permit is
sought for the entire project.
The Planning Board also fixed a
public hearing for Monday, June
3, at 8 p.m. for a special use
permit applied for by the County
Players. The Players plan a new
building on property donated by
John Sloper on MacFarland Rd.
Philip Dominicus discussed
with the board his plans to build
another pizza restaurant on his
property on Rt. 9.Mr. Dominicus
was forced to discontinue the
restaurant when Rt. 9 was rebuilt.
The building was demolished.
However, lie had received
preliminary site plan approval for
the new building before the
reconstruction of Rt. 9 was
started. But, the site is now zoned
RD -20 through the Town Board's
recent action in adopting
amendments to the Zoning
Ordinance for sections of the
realigned Rt. 9. Mr. Dominicus
was told by the Planning Board to
apply to the Town Board for
rezoning of his property from
RD -20 to HB -1 (Highway
Business).
The board approved the site
plan for an addition to the
Hughsonville Fire Co. firehouse
with the stipulations that
approval be received from the
County Highway Dept. and the
County Health Dept.
Martin Leskow applied for sub -
division approval for that part of
his property within the Town of
Wappinger. Mr. Leskow's tract is
in the Town of Fishkill as well.
He has already received approval
for that part in the Town of
Fishkill.
Following a discussion with the
Planning Board, John Taranto
was instructed to submit a site
plan prepared by an engineer for
a building, now unoccupied, on
Rt. 9 which he plans to lease.
The board gave its okay to a
site Blan for a storage shed for
lawn equipment at the Montclair
Town Houses on Rt. 9D, south of
Hughsonville.
