A highlight of 'Puesday night's program was
the lighting of a large birthday cake at the
corenr of East Main Street and Rt. 9. The
cake will be lighted nightly for the next
several months through the courtesy of Mark

where the cake is located.
The same cakewas originally used tour
years ago when the Village of Wappingers
Falls celebrated its 100th anniversary Mayor
J. Donald Synnett of the village was on hand
for Tuesday's program, along with other
town and village officials and members of the
village police and color guard.
Several other events have been planned
over the next few months to mark the towns
centennial. The Wappingers Falls Kiwanis
Club will conduct a centennial dinner and
dance June 14 at the Knights of Columbus
Hall, East Main Street.
From July 4 through July 11, there will be a
circus to mark the centennial, with James
Everhardt in charge of this event. A "picnic
in the park" is being planned for .July 20 in
Mesier Park, with the rain date July 27. A
similar picnic was one of the most successful
events of the Village's Centennial in 1971.
The town was incorporated May 20, 1875,
having previously been part of the Town of
Fishkill for neatly 1011 years
