Dear Mr. Diehl:
Enclosed is the official certificate of the population of the town of Wappinger,
New York, according to the special census taken as of March 15, 1969. We are
also sending you a certificate, by color and sex, for that part of Wappingers
Falls village in Wappinger town.
If you wish to have the town certificate recorded in accordance with New York
state law, you should file a copy with the state comptroller on or before
October 1, 1969. That copy should be sent to the New York state Department of
Audit and Control, Bureau of state Aid, state Office Building, Albany, New York.
'll1e Office for Local Governments in Albany has asked us to suggest that certifi-
cations be filed well in advance of the deadline.
The village certificate, or a copy of it, should be sent to village officials,
since they must file a certificate directly with the Comptroller before
October 1, if they wish to have the results of the special census become
effective for the distribution of funds.
The actual count exceeded the estimated population figure on 'Which the advance
of $1,840 was based. Therefore, in accordance with the terms stated in the
attachment to our letter of Novembe r 11, 1968, an additional remittance of $110
is required to cover the final costs of the special census. We shall appreciate
your sending us a check for that amount made payable to Census, DepartITBnt of
Commerce.
We understand that any county, city, town, or village may file a withdrawal
of the special census count with the Comptroller on or before December 1.
For your information we are also enclosing a tabulation showing the population
of Wappinger by age, race, and sex.
