This jnsp~ction is based on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and ASTM 1487~01 industry performance standard for public playground equipment. The following . . is the breakdown per site. The National Playground SafetyJnstitute, which certifies the playground safetyJnspections, does not use the word violations but non-compliance in its inspections. Martz Field 1) Tot swings- ( 2 seats) . One seat missing' . Replace damaged seat . Structure- support leg damaged 2) 9' high swing set . Pea stone -1-2" Ground cover not adequate for height of equipment (see table 1 page 5, CPSC 4.3 "Fall Height for Equipment" see ASTM 13.2.1 (CPSC.7.2) (CPSC 7.2), (ASTM 12.1) 3) Composite Structure . Ground Cover- the engineered wood fiber has compressed around playground. Should Be brought back to its required depth of 12" 4) Small Composite Structure . Ground Cover not adequate for height of equipment CPSC 4.3 "AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER" j ! ,/ l Summary The playground structures are in good condition. Replace the missing and one damaged tot swing. Ground cover should be added to the required depth of 12" under all playgrounds. Robinson Lane 1) 10' high swing set . Missing second swing on left . Close "s" hooks (CPSC 8.2) and (ASTM page 33) '. Ground. cover not adequate for he,ight of equipment- (CPSC 4.3), (ASTM 13.2.1) Pea stone must be at a depth of 12" 2) 8' slide , , . Ground cover not adequate for height of equipment (CPSC 4.3) wood fiber has Compressed down 3 to 4" Summary All three structures are in good condition. All swing seats and chain"was removed 2) 8' slide . In good condition Summary Replace all missing swings and chain. Fleetwood 1) Swing set . All swings was removed except one . Ground cover not adequate for height of equipment (CPSC 4.3) Summary Install all missing swing seats and add pea stone to the required depth of 12". "AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER" Summary In the entire six playground sites the structures are in good condition. With all the swings that are missing it seem the maintenance department is in the process of changing them. Once again the ground cover in your entire site must be addressed. In Spook Hill and Martz the wood fiber is compressing and should be topped off to the required depth of 12". The pea stone in the rest of the playgrounds should also be at the required depth of 12". Once the subsurface issue is taking care of the playgrounds are in good shape.
