Dear Joe;
The recreation commission recently looked at a diesel bucket
truck for sale by members of the old B&D construction contractors
with an asking price of 12k but would sell to town for 9.5k. We had
several of our maintenance people who have worked on this type of
equipment while employed at Con Edison go over the structural and
operation of the mechanics and found all in good working order. The
Following is a list of specifications;
1987 GMC Diesel 7000 Model
Engine 8.2L Detroit
Heavy duty Allison 5 speed transmission
Dual Batteries (one needs to be replaced )
Air Brakes
900 x 20 tires ( one questionable)

Non-Conductive hoses through the boom
and all new fiberglass insulating
inserts in upper / lower for isolation
to meet dielectric requirements.
Fiberglass Bucket with station for hydraulic
tool attachments
Permanently attached stabilizers ( in good shape)
Rear body storage bins (both sides)
General; collapsible rear steps, California Mirrors,
rotary caution light, 50 gal fuel tank.
( could use some minor cosmetic work and
paint)
The purchase of this truck could be beneficial to both Highway
and Recreation Departments. It would provide us with a vehicle
to help service our own roadway lamps at Carnwath and
Robinson Lane, tennis and basketball court lights at Martz
Field, tree trimming and cutting at many of our parks, roof and gutter
work along with our annual Christmas light decorating. Just for
information as of 3 weeks ago we contracted to change lamps at
Robinson Lane, cut down and trim trees creating a hazard at Reese
Park for the sum of $2600 and that does not include what was done
prior to 3 weeks ago. So it seems it may be a good long term investment
on the part of the town and we hope for a favorable reply.
