RECEIVED

TOWN CLERK
FROM:
RALPH J. HOLT, CHAIRMAN
RE:
LETTER DATED 3/21/03 ROBINSON LANE COVERAGE
With the addition of lights at Robinson Lane, we will be faced with new and
different challenges and we feel it will be necessary to have a person designated to handle
these situations.
Scheduling the use of the three (3) fields in itself will be a challenge. Based on
the requests already coming in it will require a sound communication effort. Little
League will receive first choice followed by the Wappinger Yankees, and then local fire
companies, over 40 league, ladies fast pitch and the list goes on. In addition to the
assignment of fields some of the users will be paying a fee. The procedure to handle this
will be worked out between our office and that of the Town Comptroller and approved by
our Town Board.
It is our hope that we will be able to rent advertising space, (signs affixed to the
outfield fence) to help in defraying the expense for the expected energy bill. Mr. R.
Norris, President of the Wappinger Yankee organization has tested the water to see what
kind of customers we would have. He indicated there would be a large number of firms
willing to pay $500.00 to rent a sign.
Once again, this would have to be worked out and presented to the Board for
approval. The potential for raising revenue is not a 2003 possibility. It would be put in
place for the 2004 season, if it was approved. This coordinator would be our interface

with the businesses renting space and would provide direction to these businesses of the
billing process. This person would also see to the closing of the park.
We feel the function should report through the Director of Recreation and then as
customary through the recreation commission. We feel a salary estimated at $4,000.00
would be sufficient.
We request approval to formulate this function and to seek the right person to
handle it. The sooner we get this accomplished, the faster we will feel comfortable with
this new challenge.
Your approval is requested.
