RE: REPLACEMENT OF DIRECTOR OF RECREATION
As you know, we are faced with replacing Mr. Stephen Lowery as the Town's
Director of Recreation. Mr. Lowery will finish his time with us on April 1, 2002. We have
advertized for his replacement and we received a number of excellent candidates. We feel very
fortunate that of these candidates, we have come up with one that we believe will be an excellent
replacement. We feel Mr. Cyril l Rottkamp would fill the job nicely and we request your
approval to proceed to make an offer to him. We are attaching a copy of his resume so you can
see that he possesses the skills and experience needed to perform this function. We further
believe that he would continue the process we have of continually placing the best people
available in the job. May we proceed?
Thank you.

Dear ladies/gentlemen:
I learned with interest, of the opening for the position of Parks and Recreation Director for the
Town of Wappinger. During my tenure as the Wappingers Central School District Interscholastic
Athletic Coordinator, I enjoyed working with the staff of the Recreation Department and found
them to be highly motivated, helpful and friendly. I am enthusiastic about utilizing the
knowledge, skills and experience I have developed over the years to benefit the Town's
recreation programs. I believe I am uniquely qualified for this position and would like to meet
with the Recreation Conunittee (or Town Board?) to further discuss this opportunity. Enclosed is
my resume for your revue.
I have spent my career working with youth and families. I have been involved with and honored
for my work in athletics and activities at all levels from camp counselor, to teacher, to coach, to
official and administrator. I have also worked for various town park and recreation programs
including as a summer camp counselor at Hagantown in1968, Camp Director of Athletics at
Camp Echo Lake in Warrensburg, New York in 1967 and as thc Director of Red Wing Park in
the Town of East Fishkill from 1978 to 1992.
I am known to be extremely patient and am fair but firm. I always strive to listen to other's ideas
and I feel I could bring a lot of creativity to this position. As the Parks and Recreation Director, I
would like to increase services to the community and serve as a liaison to foster better
conununication between the Town and the school system.
I have worked in Dutchess County and have been a resident of the Town of Wappinger for 35
years. I would be proud to serve my community in this new capacity. I have excellent
communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills and am confident that I would
be an asset to the Town of Wappinger Parks and Recreation Department. I look forward to
meeting with you for a personal interview to discuss my qualifications. Please [eel free to contact
me at your earliest convenience by phone at (845) 297-3546 or bye-mail atskipr044@aol.com.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely yours,
~~,
